Admission Guidelines
To embark on this academic journey at TUT, applicants must meet the following general prerequisites:
- Language Proficiency: A pass in English at the Senior Certificate level (at least as an additional language; some programmes may require a higher level of English proficiency).
- Program-Specific Criteria: Each programme has distinct entry requirements which may be updated annually.
- Assessment: Certain programmes necessitate an admission test to determine eligibility or the need for a foundational course.
Performance Levels for Admission:
TUT presents a performance scale for entry into various levels of study:
- 1 – Outstanding: 80 – 100%
- 2 – Meritorious: 70 – 79%
- 3 – Substantial: 60 – 69% (Degree level)
- 4 – Adequate: 50 – 59% (Diploma level)
- 5 – Moderate: 40 – 49% (Foundation course)
- 6 – Elementary: 30 – 39%
- 7 – Not Achieved: 0 – 29%
Mathematics vs. Mathematical Literacy:
Each prospective student must choose between Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, tailored to the requirements of their selected programme:
- Mathematics: Essential for programmes that demand a foundational understanding of mathematical concepts.
- Mathematical Literacy: Suitable for other programmes where advanced mathematics is not a prerequisite.
