This course is specifically designed to equip the student with the needed technical and practical skills to work effectively in the ever-expanding offshore industry.

Natural resource companies are looking further and deeper offshore, and the need for commercial divers to assist in this process is always increasing and in high demand. With the latest range in helmets and equipment you will learn the necessary skills to effectively function on deeper dives and offshore platforms. Students will also be taught on course an introduction to underwater welding and broco cutting.

Emphasis will be placed on a variety of dive settings from boat, shore, quarry, harbor, wet bell and chamber simulated dive environments to increase contact with the dive industry standards.

An integration of the various commercial diver training aids with a focus on the offshore environment, history of diving, diving physics, diving physiology, first aid, diving trauma and medical emergencies, diving procedures, underwater work, decompression theory and tables, underwater and diving emergency procedures, plant and equipment, gas handling, chambers, diver communication, environmental conditions, underwater hazards and danger conditions, basic seamanship, support, documentation, management and planning, safety and diving legislation.
Two tests will be written consisting of the Theory (60% pass mark) and the Diving Legislation (80% pass mark). If more than three years has expired since the last first aid certificate, arrangements can be made to renew this.

The practical training consists of the following:-

The various minimum bottom times the student will complete consists of the following depths and times: decompression chamber training, 0-19 meters with an overall bottom time off 500 minutes [including 5 wet-bell dives of 100 minutes], 20-39 meters with an overall bottom time off 140 minutes, and 40-50 meters with an overall bottom time of 40 minutes which will include the following various drills and equipment: Pneumatic and hydraulic tools, various wet bell drills, wet bell to decompression chamber transfers, hot water suit dives, underwater welding and cutting drills, flange make-up tasks, air lifting / dredging task, various underwater rescue procedures, search and rigging tasks, various decompression chamber dives and drills, high pressure water jets, dry suit diving, day / night and fresh / sea water dives, HP, LP compressors and air-quads, inspection and measurements.

Students must be medically in date to commence on this course and also bring along their basic diving gear. We will supply the rest of the gear, studying manuals and materials needed to complete the course safely and successfully. We are situated in a harbour, 30 cm from the sea, with modern classroom facilities including overhead projector, PowerPoint and DVD training material. The instructors are still actively involved in various commercial sectors bringing firsthand knowledge to the students.

Diving drills:-

We do believe that students must maintain a high level of personal fitness.

Continuously through the course various swimming drills will be executed to help enhance the students fitness level. This will be invaluable in future work efficiency and the responsibility lies with the student to carry on with a lifelong exercise regime.
