Department of English Studies
We are one of the largest departments in Africa with about 60 lecturers specialising in various fields and a number of NRF-rated researchers.

We are actively involved in diverse academic activities and pride ourselves on our accomplishments. Our peer-reviewed journals include:
- Scrutiny2 – issues in english studies in southern africa
- Imbizo – International Journal of African Literary and Comparative Studies
- Language Matters – Studies in the Languages of Africa (founded by the department)
