Did India Win A Test Series In South AfricaThe winner of the Test series between South Africa and India, dubbed The Freedom Series[3], receives the Freedom Trophy, a cricket trophy. The trophy was first presented in 2015 and is named in honor of Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi.

Background

All upcoming bilateral visits between South Africa and India would be referred to as the Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela Bilateral Series, the BCCI and CSA decided in 2015. Test cricket is used for the series. The series is named after the founding fathers of both nations as a respect to their contributions to the nonviolent struggle for independence. This has also aided in giving the series’ motivation a “iconic and traditional status.”

The “Freedom Trophy” has been given to the Test Series.

A nation was able to be born free from years of enslavement and repression because to the freedom for which Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela gave their lives. By naming the series after these great leaders, BCCI is able to honor them on behalf of all of our nation’s citizens, and it makes a personal appeal to each and every one of them to adopt their principles and take the directions they gave.

India has a winning record in South Africa.
Under the guidance of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, the Asian giants started the 2022 season by defeating South Africa five times in a row (two Tests and three ODIs). After a forgettable away trip to the Proteas, Team India won series against the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh.South Africa, England, and Zimbabwe.

How many Freedom Trophies has India won?

India and South Africa played eleven series before the trophy was established, six in South Africa and five in India. Six South African triumphs, two Indian victories, and three series that ended in draws made up the overall record.

India has never dropped a test at home.

Since the beginning of February 2013 till the present, the Indians have won 15 straight Test series on home soil. During England’s tour of India in 2012–2013, MS Dhoni and company suffered their most recent home Test series loss, going down 1-2.
