ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN-GERMAN CENTRE FOR DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH (SA-GER CDR)
The South African-German Centre for Development Research (SA-GER CDR) aims to cooperate within Ph.D. and Masters programs to prepare students to become the next leaders who can meet the social, economic, and political challenges arising from the development process. The SA-GER CDR offers research-oriented training programs in social sciences, economics, and administrative sciences. These programs are established at the University of the Western Cape and Ruhr-University of Bochum.
ABOUT THE SA-GER CDR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The SA-GER CDR is offering a 2-year DAAD merit scholarship program for a Masters degree in Development Studies. The studies will be conducted at the Institute for Social Development (ISD), School of Government, at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). The scholarship program is open to candidates who plan to establish a career in social development and the economic sector in fields such as activists, policymakers, administrators, researchers, developers, or teachers at universities.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SA-GER CDR SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Be from a Sub-Saharan African country (including South Africa)
- Have completed a Degree related to Developmental Studies
- Have completed an Honours Degree (for South African students) or a 4-year Undergraduate Degree or equivalent (for students from countries other than South Africa)
- Have an academic record with a 70% average for the latest degree
- Have completed studies at an internationally recognized university
- Be fluent in English (written and oral)
- Have previous work or voluntary experience in the field of interest (advantageous)
- Apply within 6 years of completing the Degree
- Be available for the interview period
