FNB Passport Application: A Quick and Convenient Process

FNB Insurance South Africa | Life, Car, Health and Home Insurance

In partnership with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), FNB now offers customers the ability to apply for Smart ID and passports (new or renewal) through an easy online process. Once you apply online, you can collect your document at one of the participating FNB branches, including:

  • Lynnwood (Grove Shopping Mall)
  • Centurion Lifestyle
  • 4 Merchant Place
  • FNB Greenpoint
  • Burgersfort
  • FNB Cornubia
  • FNB The Glen

The Process:

1. Register and Pay

  • Visit the Department of Home Affairs website and select ‘eChannel’.
  • Complete the registration process and enter your account details.
  • Log in to the FNB App or FNB Online Banking, approve the payment, and select ‘eFiling’.

2. Choose a Branch and Book an Appointment

  • Log in to your eChannel profile, select one of the available FNB branches (listed above), and schedule your appointment.
  • Print the confirmation page for your records.

3. Visit the Branch

  • Arrive at the selected branch at your scheduled time.
  • Bring your ID book or a police affidavit if your ID is lost or stolen.
  • Photos will be taken at the branch, and the process takes about 15 minutes.
  • You will receive an SMS when your Smart ID or passport is ready for collection.

Important Rules and Fees:

  • Smart ID: R140
  • Passport: R600 (replacement fee for lost/stolen valid passports: R1,200)
  • Both parents must accompany a child for passport applications, while one parent is required for Smart ID applications.
  • Senior citizens do not pay.
  • Payments must be made via the FNB App or FNB Online Banking, not in the branch.
