Aptos Emerges as Tokenization Powerhouse, Backed by Wall Street Heavyweights

Berkeley Square, Franklin Templeton, and BlackRock drive rapid RWA growth on Aptos as the blockchain edges into stablecoin adoption.

Real-World Assets on Aptos Surge 57% in One Month

Aptos is quickly becoming a preferred destination for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, with onchain assets soaring to $542.3 million — a 57.1% increase over the past 30 days, according to RWA.xyz.

This surge places Aptos among the top three blockchains for RWA, trailing only Ethereum and ZKsync Era, and reflects growing institutional interest in blockchain-backed financial products.

Big Names Fuel the Growth: BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Berkeley Square

Leading the charge are three major issuers:

  • Berkeley Square, part of the PACT Consortium

  • BlackRock’s BUIDL, which expanded to Aptos in November 2023

  • Franklin Templeton’s BENJI, a tokenized money market fund

Ethereum still dominates the RWA space with $7.6 billion in assets and 59% market share as of June, but its recent 5.4% growth pales in comparison to Aptos’ meteoric rise.

Wyoming Shortlists Aptos for Official State Stablecoin

In a move that could further solidify Aptos’ position, the Wyoming Stable Token Commission awarded the blockchain the highest technical score in its evaluation of platforms for the WYST stablecoin project.

While no formal deployment has occurred, Aptos’ top score was based on throughput, finality, fees, vendor support, and security, said Solomon Tesfaye, head of capital markets at Aptos Labs.

Launched in 2023, the WYST initiative aims to create a dollar-backed stablecoin, leveraging U.S. Treasury yields to fund state initiatives. Aptos’ inclusion positions it at the heart of a potential public-sector blockchain integration.

Alongside Aptos, the Sei blockchain was also short-listed, but ranked lower with a final pilot score of 30 points.
