Bitou Local Municipality, located in the beautiful Eden District of the Western Cape Province, is inviting you to apply for their annual bursary programme.
Previously known as Plettenberg Bay Municipality, Bitou Municipality spans over 990 square km of land and is the smallest of the 7 municipalities within the district. This bustling region, stretching between the Tsitsikamma Mountains and the Indian Ocean, encompasses towns like Plettenberg Bay, Kwanokuthula, and Nature’s Valley among others.
Bitou Municipality Bursary Programme: Fields Covered
Aiming to uplift its residents, the Bitou Municipality Bursary Programme is focused on students who live within the Bitou Municipal area. The programme caters to a broad spectrum of fields including:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Business Management
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Internal Auditing
- Local Economic Development
- Mechanical Engineering
- Public Administration
- Roads and Infrastructure Engineering
- Supply Chain Management

Selection Process
Applicants shortlisted will be contacted within two months of the closing date. If you do not receive feedback within this time frame, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should satisfy the following minimum entry criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Reside within the Bitou Municipal area, in the Western Cape province
- Have completed Matric
- Be studying or plan to study full-time towards a qualification within one of the fields listed above at a SAQA accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (University or Technicon)
Application Process
Interested applicants can download and complete the Bitou Municipality Bursary Application Form or collect the application forms at all libraries and municipal offices within the province during office hours.
Along with your completed application form, please submit clear copies of the required documents. The applications must be submitted to the Bitou Municipality, 04 Sewel Street, Plettenberg Bay, 6600 (Attention: Youth & Sports Coordinators section).
The application deadline is 27th January. Regrettably, applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
