WhatsApp Web enables you to access WhatsApp from your computer. However, it still requires a smartphone to scan the QR code for authentication, and it only works if the smartphone is connected to the internet. One of WhatsApp’s competitors, Telegram, has a dedicated app for PC users.
There are several ways to use WhatsApp on a PC or Mac, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages, which are listed below.
- Android SDK: Installing and configuring Android SDK takes time and consumes a significant amount of PC resources.
- Android Emulators: Android emulators such as “BlueStacks” or “Andy” create an Android-like environment on your PC that allows you to run Android apps such as WhatsApp.
- Third-Party Software: Some third-party programs are designed to run WhatsApp on a computer. However, we are unable to recommend any of them because we have not used any of them.
- WhatsApp Web: The official way to use WhatsApp on PC is to use the Desktop or Web version of WhatsApp.
This method, however, requires you to have a smartphone with an active WhatsApp Account.
In general, WhatsApp Web is not a standalone application; it simply duplicates or mirrors your mobile WhatsApp account on the larger screen of your PC or Mac.
