Durban University of Technology Library, The DUT Library is a multi-site service, providing library and information services at the six DUT campuses. It has a staff component of 80. A centralised Directorate and Materials Organisation Department form the core of the multi-site library service.
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) formed by the merger of Technikon Natal and M L Sultan Technikons, is a vibrant multi-campus tertiary level institution at the forefront of higher education, technological training and research. This merger on 1 April 2002, was South Africa’s first tertiary sector merger. The two merged institutions share a combined history of over 170 years! The University has in excess of 23 000 students and a staff of 1 500. There are six campuses spread over Durban and Pietermaritzburg. DUT offers a variety of full-time and part-time programmes leading to tertiary qualifications. These range from Certificate courses (one year of full-time study) and National Diplomas (three years of full-time study) to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Technology.
