With firm roots in the chemical industry, Gast also produces specialty chemicals for industrial and cosmetic markets. Gast offers bursaries to top-performing students who aspire to become part of the Gast team. The bursaries cover various fields of study leading to BEng, BSc, or BTech qualifications, including:

  • Building/Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying

The bursary covers registration fees, tuition, examination fees, prescribed textbooks, and travel expenses. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and industry-related tests.

Upon graduation, bursary recipients are required to work for Gast for a period equal to the duration of the bursary received (i.e., one year of work for each year of bursary funding).

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Gast Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African citizenship or permanent residency
  • Completion of Matric with Science and Mathematics
  • Full-time enrollment in one of the specified fields of study at a recognized South African university or university of technology
  • Maintenance of a minimum average of 70% throughout the course of study

Qualified students interested in applying for the Gast Bursary should submit their applications via email to mplessis@gast.co.za. Ensure that your application includes clear copies of the following supporting documents:

  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Proof of university enrollment or acceptance into the selected field of study
  • Latest academic results
  • Proof of any other qualifications

  • A motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
