Situated in the Western Cape Province, the Hessequa Local Municipality, previously known as Langeberg Local Municipality, is an area of rich cultural heritage and community spirit. Spanning across several towns including Albertinia, Gouritsmond, Heidelberg, Riversdale, Slangrivier, Stilbaai, and Witsand, Hessequa has an intrinsic identity deeply connected with the indigenous Khoikhoi people. The municipality’s name, “Hessequa”, meaning “people of the trees” in Xhosa language, reflects this bond.
