The municipality is categorized as B4 and is bordered by Elias Motsoaledi, Fetakgomo, Ephraim Mogale, and Lepelle Nkumpi Municipalities. The name “Makhuduthamaga” means “executives,” which refers to the Fetakgomo movement in the 1950s.
This rural municipality relies on traditional land ownership and has a population of more than 270,000 residents and over 65,000 households. It covers an area of more than 2000 square kilometers, and the main language spoken in the area is Sepedi.
About the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary Program:
The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality is inviting students residing within the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipal area to apply for their Mayoral bursary program for the 2024-2025 academic year. The bursaries are awarded for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Accounting (BCom)
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Economics (BCom)
- Environmental Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Waste Management
Candidates are selected based on two main criteria: academic excellence and financial need.

The bursary will cover the following expenses in full:
- Registration fee
- Tuition fees
- Study materials
- Accommodation in student residence
- Meals

Eligibility Requirements for the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary:
To be eligible for the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Reside within the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality area in Limpopo Province
- Completed Matric
- Intending to study full-time toward an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields in 2024-2025
- Studying or intending to study at a registered and accredited institution of higher learning within South Africa
- Strong academic record
- Financial need

- Submit clear copies of the required supporting documentation along with your completed bursary application form. Ensure that all documents are certified copies. Original documents must not be submitted, as they will not be returned.
