The School of Social Science is a vibrant and diverse school that offers students the opportunity to complete an undergraduate degree in many different disciplines. Majors include: Child and Youth Development, Communication and Media Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Geography and Environmental Science, International Studies, Journalism, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Relations and Sociology. Additional minor units are available in Literary and Cultural Studies and African Studies. A sequence is available in French and Francophone Studies.
Social Science students must take a major (eight units) but students can also choose to take a double major (eight units from another discipline) and/or a minor (four units from a different discipline). As a Monash Bachelor of Social Science graduate you will possess a high-quality, internationally recognised degree. Choosing majors and minors from so many interesting disciplines will equip you with an inter-disciplinary background; which will be beneficial as many employers seek staff that has expertise in more than one discipline. Potential employers can include public sector departments at provincial and national level, private sector businesses and non-government and not-for-profit organisations.
