Entry Criteria for Higher Certificate Programs
To qualify for entry into Higher Certificate programs, applicants must possess a National Senior Certificate. This certificate must validate a minimum performance of 30% in the language that will be used for instruction and learning at the tertiary level, with this qualification being endorsed by Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training. Individual institutions may also stipulate additional subject combinations or specific performance levels in recognised NSC subjects based on their unique academic and programmatic prerequisites.
Admission Standards for Diploma Programs
Prospective students aiming to enroll in Diploma programs are required to hold a National Senior Certificate. This must include at least a 30% score in the instructional and learning language of the chosen higher education institution, authenticated by Umalusi. Additionally, a rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, equivalent to 40% – 49%) or higher in four (4) recognised 20-credit subjects is mandatory. Depending on the specific institution and program requirements, there might be further expectations regarding combinations of recognised NSC subjects and their corresponding achievement levels.
