The Oppenheimer Memorial Trust (OMT) was founded in 1958 by the late Harry Oppenheimer in memory of his father, Sir Ernest. The trust is dedicated to making a positive impact in South Africa by contributing to various public interest causes, education, and philanthropic initiatives.

The OMT offers a range of awards, grant programs, and scholarships, including scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, awards for sabbatical studies, the Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award, and grants to public benefit organizations. These awards are granted based on merit and adhere to the guidelines set by the trust’s committee.
