Ripple Donates $25 Million in Crypto to Boost U.S. Education
Ripple Directs $25M in RLUSD to U.S. Education Nonprofits Through The Giving Block
In a significant move to support the future of American education, Ripple has committed $25 million in Ripple USD (RLUSD) to two leading education-focused nonprofits: DonorsChoose and Teach For America. This donation, processed via The Giving Block, strengthens Ripple’s ongoing commitment to socially impactful causes through cryptocurrency.
This latest pledge comes at a time when 55% of American parents and adults express dissatisfaction with K–12 education, according to a 2024 Gallup survey. The grant is aimed at addressing funding gaps, resourcing classrooms, and scaling teacher support systems.
Teachers Pay Out-of-Pocket — Ripple Steps In
Alix Guerrier, CEO of DonorsChoose, underscored a growing reality: teachers frequently spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars of their own money to support their classrooms. Ripple’s funding will provide resources to lighten that burden and equip teachers with tools they need to better serve their students.
“Teachers are going the extra mile,” Guerrier said, referencing educators’ personal financial sacrifices for their students. The donation is seen as a timely boost during Teacher Appreciation Week, a moment Ripple hopes will inspire similar corporate action.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse added that the grant is about more than charity—it’s about investment in future communities.
“We hope to inspire others… to support students and teachers with the resources they need to build a stronger future,” he said.
Teach For America to Expand Tutoring and Innovation Labs
Teach For America CEO Aneesh Sohoni confirmed the funds will significantly accelerate the organization’s goals. The donation will help:
-
Grow the Ignite Tutoring Fellows program
-
Advance innovation through its Reinvention Lab
-
Offer critical financial aid for teacher preparation
This infusion of funding is expected to increase the reach and effectiveness of education support programs across underserved regions in the U.S.
Crypto and Philanthropy: A Growing Trend
Ripple is not alone in pushing crypto philanthropy forward. In March 2024, Blockchain For Impact announced a $90 million commitment to biomedical research. Meanwhile, Binance co-founder CZ pledged over $500,000 in crypto to aid victims of the Thailand and Myanmar earthquakes.
According to The Giving Block, crypto donations are expected to hit $2.5 billion by 2025, suggesting that digital assets are becoming a mainstream tool for social impact
