Sasol is offering the South African Mainstream Bursary for the 2025-2026 academic year. This bursary is available for both postgraduate and undergraduate studies in various fields.

Undergraduate Studies (At University):
- Chemical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Chemistry (BEng / BSc)
- Metallurgy (BEng / BSc)
- Mining Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Civil Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Data Science (Operations Research / Statistics/ Computer Science / Mathematics) (BEng / BSc)
- Industrial Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Geology (BEng / BSc)
- Electrical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Electronic Engineering (BEng / BSc)
Undergraduate Studies (At the University of Technology):
- Mine Surveying (BEng Tech)
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Instrumentation & Control Engineering (Electrical Light Current)
Postgraduate Studies:
- Chemical Engineering (Fluid Dynamics, Mathematical and Statistical Modelling, Process Modelling, Reactor Technology, Separation Technology, Thermodynamics)
- Chemistry (advanced analytical Chemistry, Catalysis or Polymer Science, Environmental Science in the areas of Water, Waste)
- Cyber Security (MSc / PhD/ MEng)
- Data Science (Applied Mathematics, Statistics)
Bursary Value:
The bursary covers various expenses including:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Meal allowance
- Accommodation allowance
- Books
- Pocket money
- Calculator and calculator allowance (once-off)
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Sasol South African Mainstream Bursary, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Completed matric or currently completing Matric
- Intend to study full-time in accredited and recognized educational institutions in South Africa
- Meet minimum subject requirements for chosen field of study
- Strong academic record
- No criminal record
Application Process:
- Fill out the online application form.
- New users must register to activate their accounts and apply for the desired degree qualification.
- Previously registered users can log in to continue with the bursary application.
Required Documents:
Submit the following documents with your application:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Complete academic results and transcripts (preferably on institution’s letterhead)
