Sibanye-Stillwater is a prominent metal mining group that produces a variety of metals, including gold and platinum group metals (PGMs). The company ranks as the third-largest global producer of palladium and platinum. Its operations encompass gold and PGM activities, as well as projects in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The key PGM assets of Sibanye-Stillwater in the Southern Africa region include Kroondal, Rustenburg Operations, Platinum Mile (a tailings retreatment entity) in South Africa’s North West Province, and Mimosa in Zimbabwe. The company also conducts underground and surface gold mining operations in South Africa, including Cooke, Driefontein, Kloof in the West Witwatersrand region of Gauteng, and Beatrix in the southern Free State. These bursaries are available for female students pursuing degrees in BSc, BTech, BEng Tech, BEng, and NDipl in the following fields:

  • Geology
  • Instrumentation Engineering

  • Metallurgy Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Rock Engineering
  • Survey

The accepted universities for these bursaries are the University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, University of the Witwatersrand, and North-West University.

Sibanye-Stillwater Bursary Requirements and Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Sibanye-Stillwater Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must reside within the Kloof Labor Sending Area or local community.
  • Must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
  • Must be studying or intend to study at one of the following tertiary institutions: the University of Johannesburg, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, or North-West University.
  • Must have achieved a university acceptance pass in Matric with a minimum APS (Admission Point Score) of 23.
  • Must have obtained a minimum result of 60% for English in Matric.
  • Must have obtained a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics in Matric.
  • Must have obtained a minimum result of 60% for Physical Science in Matric.
  • Must be studying or intend to study one of the qualifying fields listed above in 2024-2025.
  • Must be medically fit.
