Establish yourself as an expert financial planner
USB’s Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning focuses on establishing your credentials as an expert financial planner. This qualification addresses the educational requirements for the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, which is awarded by the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI). This is the highest designation for financial planners in South Africa, and it is also internationally recognised. On completion of this programme, you can apply to write the FPI’s Professional Competency Examination.
The programme is presented at NQF level 8, with 120 credits worth of modules. The earn-while-you-learn programme can be completed in one or two years. The language of tuition is English.
What can you do with this qualification?
You need this programme to write the FPI Professional Competency Examination in order to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®. The CFP® designation is internationally recognised as the benchmark for professional advice.

Admission requirements
- Regular applicants: Relevant bachelor’s degree
- ARPL candidates: Advanced Certificate in Financial Planning plus 5 years’ work experience
