Sustainable Energy Development Scholarship 2025-2026
The Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (GSEP) offers the Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarship Program to outstanding students from developing countries pursuing master’s level studies in sustainable energy development. The scholarship program is available for study in countries such as the UK, USA, Canada, and others.
The ESED scholarship aims to inspire the next generation of innovators and thinkers to shape a sustainable future in the climate, energy, and electricity sector.
Coverage:
The scholarship provides a maximum value of 10,000 USD per year for up to 2 years of study. It is awarded to around a dozen students annually.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the scholarship:
- Pursuing master’s level studies related to sustainable energy development, such as zero-carbon energy, electric transportation, smart grids, advanced electricity technologies, energy storage, law, public policy, economics, etc.
- Enrolled full-time for at least one complete school year (two or three semesters) starting from mid to late 2025-2026.
- Citizenship of a country recognized by the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee as a developing nation and recipient of development aid.
- Commitment to contribute to their home country’s development after completing their studies.
- Outstanding academic performance, ranking within the top 20% of their class.
- Strong commitment to zero-carbon energy development.
- Active participation and contribution to their community.
- Strong determination to enhance knowledge and understanding.

Applicants need to apply online through the official website. The application form requires the submission of various documents, so it’s important to have all necessary information prepared.
Documents Required:
Applicants need to provide electronic copies of the following documents:
- Birth certificate or passport confirming citizenship in a developing country.
- Detailed curriculum vitae including education, work experience, awards, volunteer activities, etc.
- Admission letter from the chosen university program.
- Course outline for the intended master’s degree program.
- Transcripts from previous universities.
- Two reference letters or forms, one academic and one personal.

The application deadline for the 2025-2026 scholarship is April 7, at 5 pm Eastern Time.
