  3. Application Fee: There is a non-refundable application fee of R240. You can deposit this fee at ABSA BANK using the account number 04 000 000 3. In the Reference column, please enter your identity number. Remember not to use this account number for any further payments.
  4. Reference Number: Once your application is processed, you will be assigned a unique reference number, which will serve as your student number for identification purposes.

Checking Your Admission Status

To check your admission status, follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit www.tut.ac.za.
  2. Click on MENU.
  3. Click on STUDY AT TUT.
  4. Click on I WANT TO STUDY.
  5. Click on Check your admission status.
  6. Enter your ID number.
  7. Click on submit.

A new screen will open, displaying your reference number and admission status. You can also view and print a copy of the admission letter.

Admission Requirements

TUT has various admission requirements based on your academic background:

  1. National Senior Certificate (NSC):
    • A bachelor’s degree endorsement (four subjects with a minimum score of 4 in each) or an equivalent qualification.
    • Minimum achievement level of 4 for English (home language or first additional language).

    Selection criteria: An Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 25 is required.

  2. National Certificate (Vocational) at NQF Level 4:
    • A bachelor’s degree endorsement from Umalusi.
    • At least 50% (APS of 4) for English and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
    • At least 60% (APS of 5) for any four other vocational subjects (excluding Life Orientation).

    Selection criteria: An Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 25 is required.

  3. Qualifications in Higher Education:
    • A qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field of study on NQF Level 5 or above.
    • An average of at least 60% for all completed modules.

    Selection criteria: Admission is based on academic performance, space availability, and an interview. Additional assessments will be conducted.

Assessment Procedure

After the initial screening, all applicants will undergo further assessment arranged by the Department. This assessment aims to select candidates most likely to succeed in architecture studies. Top-ranking applicants will be chosen based on academic performance and availability of space.
