This programme is designed to give students an understanding of the footwear industry and provide the tools to successfully establish their own brands, including the study of creative design, technical design, pattern cutting, manufacturing and material theory. Furthermore, it is the intention of this programme to incubate students to develop their own brands and explore the possibility of establishing their own small-scale manufacturing plant.
Who should attend the short course?
- Students who wish to equip themselves with valuable skills to use in the footwear industry.
- Those who wish to equip themselves with a flowing knowledge of how to assess a creative idea, develop patterns and a prototype.
- Students who wish to know how to manufacture and produce footwear in different scales.
Admission Requirements
It is assumed that the participant registering for this programme has at least an NQF level 4 qualification and/or relevant experience in the fashion and footwear industry, and has learned to read, interpret and produce detailed written and practical projects.
