ABOUT THE UWC FACULTY OF EDUCATION BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The UWC Faculty of Education is offering bursary funding for the academic year through the DVC Postgraduate Masters Student Funding. This bursary supports students pursuing an MEd (Master of Education) degree at UWC, both on a full-time and part-time basis.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE UWC FACULTY OF EDUCATION BURSARY

To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • South African citizen or permanent resident of South Africa
  • Enrolling for the first year of MEd studies in the academic year
  • Intending to study on a full-time or part-time basis
  • Strong academic abilities
  • Not employed in the UWC Work Study Programme (including Tutor, Teaching Assistant, or Student Assistant)
  • Demonstrated financial need with a total combined household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum
  • Not receiving funding from any other sources

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE UWC FACULTY OF EDUCATION BURSARY

To apply for the bursary, applicants must submit clear copies of the following documents (compulsory for application):

  • ID Document (certified copy, not older than 3 months)
  • Proof of confirmation of admission at UWC
  • Academic transcripts (copies only)
  • Motivational letter stating current financial status and reasons for applying for the bursary
  • Full Curriculum Vitae
  • Proof of parents or guardians’ household income (employed: latest payslips, wage slips, employment letter; self-employed: tax income documents; unemployed: affidavit; receiving a grant: SASSA letter stating the amount)

No application form is required. Applicants need to submit the above documents to the relevant departmental administrators.
