The Frangipani is a tropical tree that produces clusters of colourful and scented flowers during the warmer months of November through April. The fragrance of these flowers has been described as being like honeysuckle, but more delicate and subtle.
The distinctive flower is comprised of four petals, each sporting either yellow or white colouring with a pink centre. Each blossom accommodates an umbrella-shaped arrangement of stamens which open up like bells when exposed to sunlight and close at nightfall. Frangipanis are trees in the Plumeria genus, which also include other fragrant species such as plumeria rubra (red frangipani) and plumeria acuminata (golden shower).
