Where is Prince Albert in South Africa?

Though not as popular or famous as the country’s bigger cities, South Africa offers visitors and residents alike many places of historical interest. One of the most well-known places in the entire country is Prince Albert, a small city found in the northern province of Limpopo (formerly part of Transvaal). It lies at almost 19 degrees south latitude and 28 degrees east longitude. The town lies on top of a hill along the banks of Soutpansberg, which flows into the Limpopo River to its north.

One Day in Prince Albert

On your first day, you’ll want to spend the morning exploring the city. The best way to get a feel for the place is by taking a walk up and down Main Street, which runs east-west through the centre of town and offers plenty of opportunities for photo ops. Once you’re done with that, head south along Broadway Boulevard until it intersects with 13th Avenue North.

How to Get There

1. From Cape Town, take the N2 and then turn off onto the R316. Turn left onto the R61 (signs to Prince Albert). 2. Continue on this road for about 50 km until you reach a T-junction. Turn right here and continue for about 200 meters, then turn left onto the signposted gravel roads (signposted to Eden Valley). Follow these for about 1 km, where you’ll see a signpost pointing to Prince Albert on your right-hand side.
