Important Notice to New Applicants: If you’re considering enrolling in this program, it’s crucial to note that starting from 2020, the Baccalaureus Technologiae program will no longer be available. It is being replaced by qualifications aligned with the new Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework. Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria:

For Applicants Who Obtained a Senior Certificate Before 2008:

  • Admission requirement: Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification with Afrikaans or English at a D symbol (Higher Grade) or C symbol (Standard Grade).
  • Recommended subjects: Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Typing, or Computer Typing.
  • Selection criteria: Based on Grade 12 and N3 results and subjects. A TUT potential assessment may be required.

For Applicants Who Obtained a National Senior Certificate in or After 2008:

  • Admission requirement: National Senior Certificate with a bachelor’s degree or diploma endorsement, or equivalent qualification, with at least a level 4 in English (home language or first additional language) and level 3 in Mathematics or level 4 in Mathematical Literacy.
  • Recommended subjects: None.
  • Selection criteria: Applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 20. Assessment may be required for applicants with a score between 20 and 23.

For Applicants with a National Certificate (Vocational):

  • Admission requirement: National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 50% in English (home language or first additional language) and 50% in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, among other subject requirements.
  • Certificate must be in fields like management, marketing, hospitality, tourism, office administration, information technology, computer science, finance, economics, or accounting.
  • Selection criteria: Applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 27.

Program Details:

  • Minimum Duration: Three years.
  • Presentation: Day and block-mode classes, including Saturdays for students with relevant working experience in an administrative environment.
  • Intake: January only.

Second Year (Total Credits: 0.920)

  • Business Administration II
  • Communication II
  • Information Administration II
  • Choose subjects based on prerequisites and year subjects taken in the first year, including Financial Accounting I and II, Legal Practice II, Legal Practice: Conveyancing II, Mercantile Law II, Personnel Management II

Third Year (Total Credits: 1.160)

  • Business Administration III
  • Information Administration III
  • Office Management and Technology Practice I (Work-Integrated Learning)
  • Choose subjects based on prerequisites and year subjects taken in the first two years, including Financial Accounting I and II, Legal Practice II, Legal Practice: Conveyancing II, Mercantile Law II, Personnel Management II
