George Whitefield College Fun Run
GWC’s annual 10km Fun Run and Fun Walk were held on March 12th in aid of Student Ministry Week. It was a beautiful morning and a fun event.
Thank you to all those who participated and to our many generous sponsors, particularly New Balance and Checkers Muizenberg, and of course the many local surf stores and coffee shops who donated fantastic prizes.
Our Purpose
GWC stands under the authority of Holy Scripture as God’s infallible revelation of himself to human beings, culminating in his becoming a man in Jesus Christ. Our programme therefore aims to deepen the students’ understanding of the total message of the Bible, to develop their capacity to relate to the many complex situations of modern life, and to train them to minister the Biblical message effectively to the needy world.
This is accomplished by educating people in the principles of Christian knowledge and related fields; and by training people for Christian life and ministry with an emphasis on the teaching the Word of God.
Vision
That Africa be filled with preachers and teachers who deeply love the Lord Jesus and who have a profound understanding of Scripture, in order that Africa may increase its share in the Kingdom of God.
Mission
To shape minds via a classical theological education, nurture hearts devoted to service and train voices to effectively communicate the word of Christ.
Our Ethos
GWC is a Community of Disciples of Jesus
We can no longer follow our master on the road as his first disciples did, but we have his teachings and his life story and we see ourselves as “apprentices” serving him as we are able to do now, and equipping ourselves to serve him better in the future.
GWC is about Ministry and Mission
We believe that theology is about Christian living, worship, ministry and mission. So there is a focus on ministry, mission, evangelism and church planting.
GWC Seeks to Unite Academic Learning with Practical Ministry
All our students are engaged in ministry in churches while they are at the college.
GWC is big on Biblical Theology
We believe the Old and New Testaments are one developing revelation of God to humankind. We want to grasp the big picture: to see how the Old and New Testaments fit together. [For more on Biblical Theology, click here.]
