Bridging course for enrolled nurses leading to registration as a General Nurse (R683)
Duration of Course
Two years full time
The course consists of a theoretical and a practical component
Course of Study
First Year
- Integrated General Nursing Science I
- Applied Social Science I
- Ethos and Professional Practice I
Second Year
- Integrated General Nursing Science II
- Applied Social Science II
- Ethos and Professional Practice II
The learner must also receive practical training of a minimum of 1,000 hours at the approved clinical facilities per year.
Theoretical examinations are conducted by the South African Nursing Council at the end of each study year. Practical examinations (clinical) are conducted by Thuto Bophelo Nursing Academy at the end of each study year.
The successful learner can register at the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
