In South Africa, how long does it take to get a police report?

Applications are processed in about 15 working days after all required documents are received at Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management. This time frame does not include postal time.

How long do you have after a crime to report it?

There is no time limit for bringing a prosecution for an indictable only or either way offense. This means that you can report a crime at any time, but the police may decide not to pursue further action for less serious offenses committed more than six months ago.

What happens after a crime is reported?

When a crime is reported, the police begin their investigation and look for evidence. As the victim, they will need to speak with you and gather as much information as possible in order to write a statement.
