How to Register a Security Company In South Africa
If you are looking to start a Security company and want a license of registration for it, you must first register a company in South Africa before you can register a security company there, ideally with one or more business partners who have individual PSIRA grades (we can assist). You must first register your security company, and only then can you register with the Private Security Regulatory Authority.
Where to Start
I have listed the most crucial registrations/documents below that you would require to start a security company because there are many registrations that must be completed and certificates that must be obtained if you want to start a security company in South Africa.
- Registering a CIPC company
To conduct business as an officially registered company, you must first register your company with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).Once your business is registered, the CIPC department will issue you a company registration number that is necessary to finish the remaining registrations.
- Enroll your business in the Letter of good standing from COID in step two.
As the workmen’s compensation fund, COID is also known. To protect your employees from any injuries they might sustain while performing their duties, you must register your business for COID with the Department of Labor.
- Get A SARS TAX Clearance
The tax clearance pin for your business is listed on a tax clearance certificate that SARS has issued. The Pin is used to verify your company’s status with SARS regarding tax compliance.
- Obtain A CSD Registration
The CSD registration (MAAA) number you receive after completing a Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration can be used by any department or person to verify the information about your business.
- B-BEE affidavit
Your company’s B-BEE qualification level is attested to using a B-BEE certificate and affidavit. The percentage of black South African ownership in your company determines your B-BEE qualification level. More details about B-BEE can be found HERE.
- Verify With PSIRA
PSIRA in Step 6
Your company’s suitability to provide security services is confirmed by the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority, or PSIRA as it is more commonly known. You are ineligible to submit an application for security contracts or tenders if you have not registered with PSIRA.
Once you have finished all of your company’s registrations and obtained all necessary certificates, you can begin submitting applications for security tenders and contracts!
