Where is Frankfort in South Africa?

Frankfort, located in the southern part of South Africa, is a town with a population of about 18,000 people. It is part of the Metsimaholo Local Municipality which is part of Fezile Dabi District Municipality.

The town falls under the Metsimaholo Local Municipality, which is part of the Fezile Dabi District Municipality.

The Metsimaholo Local Municipality is located in the Free State province and comprises three towns: Frankfort, Reitz and Senekal. It borders Lesotho to its east.

There are two theories regarding the origin of the name Frankfort.

The name Frankfort is thought to have come from a town in Germany, which was named after the German city Frankfurt am Main. The settlers who arrived in South Africa found it difficult to spell “Frankfurt am Main” correctly, so they instead chose to name their settlement after the town of Frankfurt in Germany.
