Unfortunately, South Africa has been deleted from the Kylie Cosmetics website’s shipping list. However, “snail mail” has never been utilized to place an order, and a courier service will continue to be employed. Here’s how it’s done:
Kylie Cosmetics is the first step.
Go to the Kylie Cosmetics website and think about what you want to buy. Remember that she has a lot of self-tan, so be realistic about the colors that will suit you. For example, here are Kylie Cosmetics matte liquid lipsticks for light complexion, which I love because I’m so white!
Step 2: Postbox Courier Use the Postbox Courier service. Kylie Cosmetics will mail my order to my New York postbox, where a courier service will pick it up and deliver it to South Africa.
They will bill you for the courier cost so that you will know how much to pay when you arrive. It’s usually around $30, but because it’s done by weight, I can’t tell you how much it’ll cost you.
You will be charged for the courier service before the package is shipped to South Africa. This way, if you refuse their charge, they may return it.

Step 3: Travel to South Africa
Postbox Courier will tell you that your parcel has arrived in South Africa and that customs costs must be paid. Again, this is determined by HOW MUCH YOU ORDER. Because it is cost dependant, it is impossible for someone to offer you a rough amount.
Customs and duty fees are the fourth step.
Unfortunately, import tax is not an exact science because it is determined by how much you purchase (cost) and which nation you shop from (UK is cheaper than USA). However, in general, the price is reasonable.
What IS costly is the courier’s trip to South Africa. Here is a list of all the fees I’ve paid thus far:
You decide how much the things will cost. (Purchases of Kylie Cosmetics.)
The cost of the courier is weight based, thus it is determined by how much and what you purchase.
R125.00 for customs clearance (This has been the same on every order.)
Import VAT – I’m not sure how this is calculated. (If you want to figure it out, start here and report back!)
Only apparel is subject to import duty.
Only clothes is reimbursed.
South Africa imposes high import tariffs in order to preserve its own industries (not exactly sure what that local industry is, but ok).
Step 5: Your Residence
Once you’ve paid your customs, mailbox courier will deliver it to your home or workplace in around 7 business days. Sometimes it takes two days, sometimes it’s a Thursday and you won’t get it until the following Tuesday. I suppose it all depends on the day of the week.
How to Buy Kylie Cosmetics in South Africa
When you make your first purchase on an overseas website, your billing and shipping addresses must match. To avoid this, I propose placing the products in your cart so you can see the total.
Then, from the site, purchase a gift voucher to obtain a code. So, if you spend $55, buy two $25 coupons, utilize them, and then pay $5 with your credit card. Even if the delivery and card addresses do not match, the site appears to be content with tiny sums (they only block larger amounts).
How much time does it take?
The largest lag is between ordering and having the order fulfilled by the Kylie operations center. It’s gotten better in recent years since I believe they’ve expanded their personnel, but the first time I purchased, I had to wait 3 weeks for Kylie to fulfill the order!
The journey from Kylie to New York will thereafter take little more than three days. It will therefore take 5 working days to go from New York to Johannesburg. Then it takes an average of three days to go from Joburg to your residence IF you pay your costs right away. You would have to wait longer if you take two weeks to pay your costs.
