In order to become a doctor in South Africa, you’ll need to complete a medical degree at one of the country’s universities.
There are currently nine public universities in South Africa that offer medical degrees. These include Nelson Mandela University, University of Cape Town, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Pretoria, Rhodes University, Stellenbosch University, Witwatersrand and the Medical School at the University of Limpopo.
Besides these nine public universities, there are also three private universities that offer medical degrees: Durban’s College of Health Sciences (COHS), the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SACBC) and Durban’s College for Advanced Technology (CAT).
