What is the legislative authority of South Africa?

The legislative authority of South Africa is vested in the Parliament of South Africa. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, provides that Parliament may make laws for the peace, order and good government of South Africa.

This includes all matters coming within the classes of subjects enumerated in Schedule 4 to the Constitution as well as any other subject that it has the power to legislate for.

The executive authority is vested in the President and Cabinet who are responsible for implementing and enforcing legislation.
