Who Owns McDonald’s In South Africa 

Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a restaurant in San Bernardino, California, in 1940 that would later become the foundation of the McDonald’s Corporation, an international fast food franchise with American roots.

McDonald’s SA’s owner is MSA Holdings

In order to avoid any conflicts of interest while serving as the country’s Deputy President, Ramaphosa sold McDonald’s South Africa to MSA Holdings in 2016.

The sale of McDonald’s South Africa to MSA Holdings, a firm located in the UAE, was allowed by the Competition Commission since it wouldn’t put local businesses at an unfair competitive disadvantage.

The deal’s price was never made public.

How was Ramaphosa able to claim it?

In South Africa, 145 McDonald’s outlets will be managed by Ramaphosa under a 20-year contract. Ramaphosa, in contrast to a typical conventional franchisee, held all of McDonald’s assets,

property leasing or ownership.
