1. Prepare the soil in 2 weeks’ time by thoroughly digging over the soil to the depth of a spade’s blade, at least 30cm and mix in a large amount of good quality compost.

2. Soak the Sweet Pea seeds overnight in lukewarm water to soften the hard outer layer.

3. Plant your seeds in beds at the depth about 2cm deep and 15-20cm apart.

4. Water the seeds gently and thoroughly after planting.

Do sweet peas need a lot of water?

Sweet peas, once planted, needs regular watering, especially during the summer.

The best fertilizers for sweet peas are pelletized chicken manure, worm castings and compost which are high carbon and less nitrogen required to grow more flowers.
