About the Scholarship Provider – Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust:
The Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust was established in 1988 by Dr. Cecil Renaud, a well-known philanthropist from Durban, South Africa. Upon his passing in 1993, Dr. Renaud bequeathed the remainder of his estate to the Trust, which subsequently established the Overseas Scholarship.
Since 1994, the Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust has awarded 38 scholarships to young South Africans. Through this program, students have had the opportunity to attend prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge, University of London, and University of Oxford, pursuing various fields of study.
Cecil Renaud International Scholarship:
The Cecil Renaud Educational and Charitable Trust is offering the Cecil Renaud Overseas Scholarship for the 2023 academic year. The scholarship is open to South African students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies (Masters or PhD) in the United Kingdom.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, and 1 or 2 candidates will be selected to receive the scholarship award. The scholarship is granted for a maximum duration of 2 years.
Selection Criteria and Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for the Cecil Renaud International Scholarship:
- South African resident who has resided in the country for at least 5 years
- Below 27 years of age
- Completed most of their secondary schooling in the KwaZulu-Natal province
- Postgraduate student who has completed or is in the final year of an Honours degree or a 4-year undergraduate degree
- Achieved or aiming to achieve Undergraduate or Honours degree cum laude or summa cum laude
- Obtained Dean’s Commendations and Certificates of Merit or their equivalent
- Studied at any South African university
- Intending to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Masters or PhD) at a university in the United Kingdom
- Demonstrated excellence in extracurricular activities
- Driven to uplift South Africa and make a significant impact in their chosen field of study
Application Process:
To apply for the Cecil Renaud International Scholarship, applicants must download and complete the Cecil Renaud Scholarship Application Form for the relevant academic year. The completed application form, along with supporting documents, including birth certificate, academic records, updated curriculum vitae, photograph, signed statement, and motivational letter, should be submitted via email to the provided email addresses.
