Sappi, founded in South Africa in 1936, started as a paper producer primarily serving the newsprint, business papers, packaging, and specialty paper industries. Sappi Bursaries 2024:
Sappi offers bursary opportunities to support the education of bright South African students in line with the company’s business needs. These bursaries are open to students pursuing qualifications in Engineering and Forestry fields. The bursaries cover allowances and tuition fees, with the value determined based on the household income of the students.
The eligible fields of study for the Sappi bursaries include:
- Chemical Engineering (BSc or BEng)
- Civil Engineering (BSc or BEng)
- Electrical Engineering (BSc or BEng)
- Forestry and Wood Science (BSc)
- Industrial Engineering (BSc or BEng)
- Mechanical Engineering (BSc or BEng)
- Mechatronics Engineering (BSc or BEng)
Selected candidates may also have the opportunity to participate in vacation work during December and July holidays to gain practical experience. Additionally, they can engage in various engineering programs.
Applicants will be evaluated based on their latest university results, and preference will be given to candidates with an average of 75% and above in Mathematics and Physical Science.
Sappi Bursary Requirements and Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Sappi bursary, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen aged between 17 and 25 years.
- Have completed the Matric examination or be in the process of completing Matric.
- For those who have completed Matric, a minimum of 70% in Mathematics, Physical Science, and 60% in English is required.
- Pursue a full-time degree course in one of the specified fields at an accredited and recognized South African university.
- Students residing near Sappi’s main business areas will be given preference.
