About Us
Established in 1995, The Faculty of Health Sciences contained departments grouped under other faculties, namely:
– Human Movement Sciences (Faculty of Education)
– Nursing (Faculty of Arts)
– Psychology (Faculty of Arts)
– Social Work (Faculty of Arts)
– Pharmacy (Faculty of Science)
Currently functioning as a Faculty of four schools and subdivided into ten departments, the Faculty has successfully progressed toward becoming an entity in its industry of stability and influential change. The Faculty is guided by the following:

- To develop exceptional fit-for-purpose health, social and related professionals for South Africa through transformative and innovative education, underpinned by relevant world-class research.
MISSION
To strive for excellence in higher education by:
- Being a leading academic partner in strengthening health and social systems to become more equitable and responsive across all the services they offer.
- Innovating to further quality education and health, social work and sport to ensure relevant, capable and compassionate professionals for South Africa:
- Advancing research to support innovation, strengthen practice and inform policy; and
- Inspiring graduates to become visionary leaders in their workplaces, communities and professions.
