How to Apply to the University of Zululand 2025-2026

When Should I apply?

How to Apply to the University of Zululand (Unizulu):

Applications to study at Unizulu are facilitated through the Central Applications Office (CAO). You can submit your Unizulu application in one of the following ways:

  1. Hard Copy Application: You can obtain a hard copy application form, complete it, and submit it to the CAO.
  2. CAO App: Utilize the CAO mobile app to submit your application electronically.
  3. Online Application: Apply online through the CAO website.

Please note that there are application fees associated with CAO applications:

  • South African citizens are required to pay R250.
  • International applicants need to pay R300.

These fees cover applications to all universities in the province that use the CAO system.

How to Track Your Application:

To check the status of your Unizulu application, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the CAO website.
  2. Click on “My Application.”
  3. Fill in the required details and follow the prompts.
  4. You should then be able to view the status of your application.

Application Deadline:

The closing date for applications is typically on the 30th of September.

Unizulu offers a variety of courses across different faculties, including Arts, Education, Science and Agriculture, as well as Commerce, Administration, and Law. These courses are available at the KwaDlangezwa and Richards Bay campuses.

Submitting Results and Documents

Students need to submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified Copy of ID
  • Matric results
  • Proof of payment of application fee
  • Diploma or Degree certificate (if available)
  • Academic record (if you have studied at another tertiary institution)

Additional documents for international students:

  • Valid passport and study permit/student Visa
  • SAQA verification certificate
  • Proof of financial means (e.g. bank statements, bursaries, cash available, etc)

School learners must ensure that all examination results from Grade 11 until September of Grade 12 are submitted. Failure to do such may result in delays within the student’s application process. You might find that you applied early in Grade 12 and thus only sent in your final Grade 11 results. If this is true, as the year progresses and you receive more results keep sending them through to UNIZULU, that way they will have all your results by the time finals come around.

Transferring students should too ensure that all transcripts and academic records are submitted as early as possible as well as that a final transcript of current studies being undertaken reaches the Admissions Office as soon as possible after receipt.

Once you have applied, keep a look out for your acceptance and/or provisional acceptance letter.
