A left-hand drive vehicle is a vehicle that is designed to be driven on the left-hand side of the road, as opposed to the right-hand side. In South Africa, it is not legal to import a left-hand drive car into the country. If you are driving a left-hand drive car, you must have an International Driving Permit and have your headlights on at all times.

What side of the road do South Africans drive?

South Africa is one of the few countries in the world that drives on the left. In fact, it is one of only a handful of countries that do so. The reason for this is that when Europeans first settled in South Africa, they drove on the left side of the road as they came from a right-hand driving culture. When apartheid came into place, it was enforced by law and so people continued to drive on the left side of the road as this was what had been practised for centuries.

What are the driving regulations in South Africa?

The National Road Traffic Act of 1996 governs the rules of the road in South Africa. It’s a law that is designed to make all drivers safe and responsible. The Act provides for sanctions and penalties for offenders, as well as special provisions for children, learners, and senior citizens. The Act has been amended several times since it was first passed in 1996. They made one amendment to deal with the problem of “drunk driving”. Another amendment deals with the problem of “speeding”.
