Empowering Dreams: Ashinaga Africa Initiative Leadership Programme
Guiding Orphaned Students to Success: Ashinaga Africa Initiative
Ashinaga, founded by Yoshiomi Tamai in response to personal tragedy, has been a guiding light for youth worldwide who have lost their parents. Through initiatives like the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI), the organization offers emotional support and financial aid to deserving students, enabling them to pursue undergraduate degrees abroad. Since its inception in 2014, AAI has supported over 110,000 orphaned students across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Nurturing Leaders: AAI Leadership Programme 2024-2025
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) Leadership Programme for the upcoming academic year is now open for applications. AAI’s mission is to provide scholarships to students from Sub-Saharan African countries who have lost one or both parents, enabling them to pursue undergraduate degrees at foreign universities. This unique program not only empowers students academically but also fosters leadership skills for active participation in their home countries’ development.
The Journey Ahead: Programme Stages
The AAI Leadership Programme comprises three stages:
- Preparation and Study Camp: Shortlisted students attend a study camp in Senegal or Uganda, preparing them for studying abroad. This stage covers university applications, leadership development, career planning, and adjusting to international academic environments. Afterward, students can proceed to universities in 2024.
- During University: The program provides full financial support for studying abroad, including internships and leadership development programs held by Ashinaga.
- After Graduation: Graduates return to their home countries or Sub-Saharan Africa, committing a minimum of one year to contribute to the region’s development.
