Tracing back to its inception, Atholl Munday College of Technology stands as a monument to the collaborative efforts with the industry aimed at bridging the skills gap in South Africa. Established in 1970 as the Atholl Munday Training Centre, it began as the AECI group’s flagship training institution with a vision to foster within-company education.
For over forty years, the institution has evolved into an acclaimed hub for industrial technical training, specializing in areas such as Fitting, Electrical Work, Boiler-Making, Millwrighting, and Welding.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) RPL is our way of valuing the skills and knowledge our students bring, regardless of how they were acquired. By integrating past experiences into our programs and addressing any skill gaps, we prepare learners for a trade test, turning them into qualified artisans ready for the workforce.
Trade Testing for Artisans Our meticulous trade testing process includes:
- Technical panel reviews
- In-depth candidate interviews
- Pre-evaluations and SETA approvals
- Three-week preparatory courses
- The trade test itself
Artisan Training Courses We offer an array of skills development courses, including a BASIC PLC Course that covers comprehensive topics over five Saturdays, among other skill training opportunities.
