ATNS Bursaries South Africa 2025-2026
ATNS is offering bursaries for the academic year 2025-2026 to eligible students. The bursaries are divided into three categories, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to pursue their studies at the ATNS Aviation Training Academy (ATA) in Johannesburg. The bursary categories are as follows:
- AIMO (Aeronautical Information Management Officer) Bursary:
AIMOs handle aeronautical information that is crucial for air traffic control. They collaborate with sources to ensure safe aircraft navigation. AIMOs process and disseminate aeronautical information necessary for maintaining safe and efficient air traffic systems.
- ATSO (Air Traffic Services Officer) Bursary:
ATSOs support Air Traffic Controllers in various tasks. They play a significant role in the air navigation team and can pursue careers in Air Traffic Management.
- AMC (Airport Management Centre) Liaison Officer Bursary:
AMC Liaison Officers represent ATNS in the Airport Management Centre. They identify air traffic control-related events and collaborate with AMC representatives to address them.
Expenses Covered
The bursaries cover the following expenses:
- Accommodations (shared) at a guest lodge arranged by ATNS ATA
- Transportation to and from ATNS ATA as per study and practical requirements
- Monthly allowance
- Daily meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Non-academic activities specified by the study program coordinator for ten days
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the bursaries, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Aged 18 or older
- Matric certificate
- Minimum of HG “D” or SG “C” for English and Mathematics in Matric
- Medical fitness (for ATSO and AMC bursaries)
- Preference for applicants from designated groups under the Employment Equity Act of 1998

Selection Process
The selection process includes:
- Personality assessment
- Ability tests (mathematical problem-solving, English comprehension, spatial reasoning, etc.)

- Bursary contract offer to successful candidates
Feedback will be provided to shortlisted candidates within 30 days after the application closing date.
