Brave Browser Adds Cardano Integration in Major Web3 Expansion

Brave and Cardano Partner to Unlock Seamless Blockchain Access, Privacy, and Governance Tools

Brave Browser, known for its privacy-first approach and built-in Web3 wallet, has officially integrated Cardano support, marking a pivotal moment for both platforms. Announced on May 12, this partnership with Input Output, the development team behind Cardano, enables native access to Cardano’s blockchain, tokens, and governance features directly within Brave’s browser and standalone wallet.

Integrating Cardano into Brave Wallet not only expands multi-chain access, but also enhances security, governance participation, and the overall user experience,” said Brendan Eich, Brave CEO and co-founder of the Basic Attention Token (BAT).

A User-Centric Leap for Web3 Adoption

The direct integration means Brave users no longer need external extensions to access Cardano-based decentralized applications (DApps). With this update, Cardano is now as accessible as Ethereum and Solana, both already supported by Brave.

According to Robert Roose, founder of Cardano interoperability protocol Mynth, the move brings Cardano “within easy reach” of mainstream Web3 users:

“This is a fantastic moment for the ecosystem. I really don’t see significant hurdles here… Cardano is truly ready for prime time.”

Midnight Sidechain to Benefit from Brave Support

The partnership also shines a spotlight on Midnight (NIGHT)—a privacy-focused Cardano sidechain developed by Shielded Technologies, a spinout of Input Output. Brave’s integration lays the groundwork for further innovations around confidential smart contracts and governance systems.

Charles Hoskinson, Cardano’s founder, revealed that NFTs could enable free daily transactions on Midnight. Under the proposed model, NFT holders would gain access to tokenless crypto apps, mimicking the “free accounts” of Web2, but powered by blockchain.

“Then all of a sudden you have the entire Web2 business model,” Hoskinson explained.

Privacy and Interoperability at the Forefront

Roose emphasized that Midnight’s capabilities extend Cardano’s reach, particularly when combined with Mynth’s crosschain swap tools. He said both projects are focused on zero-knowledge proofs, which could revolutionize privacy in crypto transactions.

Eran Barak, Midnight’s CEO, previously explained that traditional transparency in blockchain can hinder enterprise adoption by exposing metadata. Midnight, on the other hand, is built to protect user identity and enable real-world applications in business and healthcare.

A Long-Term Partnership with Bigger Plans Ahead

This integration is only the first phase of a broader collaboration between Brave and Input Output. Both parties have hinted at future developments that may involve deeper integration with Cardano’s decentralized governance and Midnight’s privacy stack.

Brave’s continued expansion positions it as a powerful multichain gateway, helping bridge users to emerging ecosystems like Cardano through a user-friendly, secure interface.
