An account can be closed via a bank’s online banking service. To permanently cease future payments, you must contact your service provider directly. We are unable to assist you in this matter. What do I need to do to cancel my Absa account?
You can terminate your old account once you have received confirmation that all of your debit orders and salaries have been transferred; your first batch of debit orders has been processed through your new account; and your salary has been deposited into your Absa account.
Is it possible to terminate my bank account online?
Many financial institutions enable you to accomplish this online, although it may need contacting customer service or visiting a local bank location. Some banks and credit unions may ask you to fill out an account closure request form or submit a written request in order to close your account.
Is there a charge for closing a bank account?
In general, no. The lone exception is if you terminate an account soon after it is opened. Some banks and credit unions impose an early account closing fee if you shut an account within a certain time range, such as 90 or 180 days.
Can I cancel my Absa account using the app?
You may only close an account at a branch and a credit card by contacting our team at 0861 462 273.
How do you close a bank account without physically visiting the bank?
If you do not go in person, you must submit a letter asking the bank to shut your account. Your name, address, and account number are the four most important details to mention. You can also request that a letter be mailed to you confirming the closure of your account.
