You can ask SARS for your tax number in a number of ways if you’ve forgotten it:
Send us a question. Make verify your information matches what we have on file.
If you have an eFiling account, you can access it there. You only need to log in and look up your number.
If you are a registered eFiler, you can also request your notice of registration through the MobiApp.
The ‘SARS Registered Details’ menu item in eFiling has been enhanced to enable taxpayers to seek the Notice of Registration (IT150).

Taxpayers can now send an SMS to SARS at 47277 to seek particular Personal Income Tax-related services as of June 28, 2021. Taxpayers can access the following extra tax-related services via their mobile device. You can access these services with or without data or airtime:
Make a booking for eBooking.
Passport, booking (space) ID, or asylum seeker number
Request for confirmation in order to decide whether to file a (PIT) tax return
Passport, File (Space) ID, or Asylum Seeker number
Ask for the IT150 to be issued (Tax Registration Number)
Passport, TRN (Space) ID, or Asylum Seeker number
Request account-related information (balance statements) and/or delivery of the Account Statement (SOA)
Passport, Balance (Space) ID, or Asylum Seeker number
If I lose my tax ID online, how can I get it back?

Go to the top menu bar and select “Contact Us.”
To request your tax number, use this link.
Fill out the form completely and select the “What’s My Tax Number” query type.
If SARS was able to validate your credentials, they will send you your tax number.
How do I locate my tax identification number?
You can either visit the SARS website to request your tax number or call SARS directly at 0800 00 7277 to validate your tax number.
Is your tax ID listed on your payslip?
However, you can start looking for your tax number on your payslip or on your IRP5 issued by your company if you need it for correspondence or to give to your tax adviser, tax practitioner, financial consultant, or any one of the other hundreds of reasons.
