Although the PSP online store closes today, consumers may still be able to buy titles through a PS3 or PS Vita. Direct game purchases and DLC purchases for PSP games will no longer be possible.

Why did PSP stop being made?
It was cumbersome and expensive, and with the growth of digital distribution, it was never going to become the industry standard for multimedia. Later, a disc-free PSP Go attempt to tap into the digital market failed as a result of a high retail price and an apparent lack of essential downloadable titles.
Why did they stop creating games for the PSP?
Due of the Playstation Portable’s short lifespan, Sony decided to retire it. Since users were switching to the more modern technology at the time, the system wasn’t sufficiently powerful to support new games, and game developers didn’t want to continue making games for the platform.
