The Canon Collins Trust has been providing scholarships since 1981 to students from southern African countries. They have supported over 4,000 scholars from 14 countries, offering undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for study in South Africa, the UK, Ireland, and Malawi. The Trust aims to empower individuals through education and supports students in various fields of study.
The Ros Moger and Terry Furlong (RMTF) group is a partner of the Canon Collins Trust. Since 2001, the RMTF group has raised funds in memory of Ros and Terry, influential figures in the London education sector. These funds are used to award scholarships to deserving students.
Canon Collins RMTF Scholarship Program:
Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the RMTF group, is offering scholarships for the academic year to non-South African students. The scholarship covers postgraduate studies in Education (Masters or PhD) with a focus on themes related to improving access to and the quality of education in southern Africa.
Coverage and Benefits:
The scholarship covers a maximum of 2 years for Masters students and a maximum of 3 years for PhD students. Funding for subsequent years is contingent on satisfactory academic performance. The scholarship value ranges from R20,000 to R100,000, depending on the student’s circumstances.
Selection Process:
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in October via email. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview between October and November . Final successful applicants will be informed in December .
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the Canon Collins RMTF Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- National of Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia, or Lesotho OR have refugee status in one of these countries
- Reside in Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia, or Lesotho
- Completed a first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or graduating in
- Studying or intending to study towards a postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD) in Education
- Studying full-time, part-time, or via distance learning
- Studying or intending to study at a university in South Africa
